The School Curriculum

To enable our children to take their place in our demanding, rapidly changing society our curriculum is carefully planned. This is achieved following the National Curriculum using cross-curricular links to teach skills engaging and inspiring pupils to learn, make progress and reach their full potential.

The National Curriculum consists of the following subjects as well as Religious Education: English, Maths, Science, Design and Technology, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), History, Geography, Art and Design, Music, Personal, Social Health Education and Physical Education. For our Modern Foreign Language studies all Key Stage Two pupils have the opportunity to learn Spanish.

Children journey through the following stages in our school

Foundation Stage            4-5yrs

National Curriculum

Key Stage One                5-7yrs         Year Groups 1-2

Key Stage Two                7-11yrs        Year Groups 3-6

At the end of Key Stage 2 all children undergo Statutory Assessments.

We place great value in learning through experience and practical activities. Breadth is added by offering a range of experiences beyond the classroom. Club Activities, School Visitors sharing their knowledge and skills, visiting Drama Groups, Church Services, class Educational Visits, Y6 Residential Activity holidays all play an important part in school life.

Our curriculum areas are mostly taught as subject specific lessons. The skills acquired are applied through cross-curricular theme work.

At the beginning of each term, parents are informed about each class’s curriculum plans. This enables parents to assist their children by supporting schoolwork at home. Further information is available on request.
